Baby Steps to Distressed Jeans

Destressed Jeans 1

If you look at the picture of me above, I am standing proud in my distressed jeans.  If you are laughing at me, I am laughing at myself too.  I love fashion so much – now more than ever, but distressed jeans will take baby steps for me.  I can tell you that I have looked at them in the store before and thought,  “Why would I buy a jean that looks torn to pieces?” I just can’t justify spending good money on something that has holes in it, but this seems to be the style for Fall.  These jeans are from http://www.WhiteHouseBlackMarket.com.  I purchased them two years ago.  I love these “boyfriend” style jeans because they are so soft and fit like a glove.  The jeans at WHBM always fit me well and wash up nicely.  Two years ago was about the time distressed jeans started appearing in the stores as a fashion trend.

Hair Care Tips for Women Over 50

Me 2

In the middle of my morning ritual of getting dressed, it occurred to me I needed to blog today about hair care for women over 50 or really any age.  I can tell you I never thought I would need to change my hair care routine as I have gotten older but I did.  About a year ago, I started noticing how dry and brittle my hair had become.  It was getting harder and harder to style.  I am naturally blonde by birth but I do get high lights to keep my gray covered.  The one good thing about being naturally blonde is your gray hair is not as noticeable to anyone else – except yourself.

Not a Decorator? Neither am I!

I love everything about real estate from the new construction process to the decorating process to the closing process.  There are so many fun steps to take when building a new home.  BUT- what if your home is already built or you already live in your home and are thinking about selling or just updating your home? Where do you go to get design inspiration?  If you are like me and not a certified or professionally trained interior decorator, it can be hard to know what to select when making the necessary changes to bring your home up to date.  I am lucky to be in the real estate field because I keep up with what is popular and on trend in the home business.  I also see a lot of what needs to go!  So many people live in their homes their entire life and are still living with green shag carpet.  Seriously – well maybe that is a little bit exaggerated but I have seen it – believe me!

Move it or Lose it

IMG_3751

Yesterday marked the end of Summer.  I am actually sad to see it go.  I am a Summer girl and love being outdoors and enjoying the beauty of life.  I didn’t always feel this way, but I do now.  I find myself more alive when I am outside doing something – anything.  It feels freeing! I chose to mark my Labor Day with a walk on the Ravenal Bridge – aka the Cooper River Bridge.  The name Cooper River was the name of the old bridge before it was torn down and a new one was built maybe 10 years or so ago and named after Authur Ravenal Bridge.  I will let you do the research on who he was.

As I walked the bridge, I am always reminded how important it is to do some form of exercise.  I am an off the wagon on the wagon exerciser.  I start out and get really into it and then all of a sudden I stop.  I never actually know why.  It just happens.  One of my goals is to stay committed to my exercise routine.  I need to learn to be as committed to myself as I am to others!  The one thing I do know is if you don’t move it – you will lose it.  This scares me as I notice my body changing with age and becoming more stiff – especially in the mornings.  It is important to keep moving so you can keep moving.  When I am exercising, I can actually tell a difference in the flexibility of my body such as the ability to stand on one foot and keep my balance.  There is a lady in my community who walks everyday.  I always see her walking down the side walk dressed in her exercise clothes.  She appears to be older than me.  She walks everyday without fail.  I admire her for just getting up and getting out to do her daily walk.  Exercise is so important to our entire system – mind – body – and spirit.  It can be a huge stress reliever and a great way to get your quiet time.
